2 Peter 1:3-11

From Psalm 70 we learn about one of the fundamentals of the Christian Faith; prayer. David models the urgency of bringing our concerns to God, praying for justice, as well as for God's greatness while demonstrating his own submission and humility before God.

At the end of Isaiah we are given one last glimpse into Zion, the new heavens and the new earth.

Although attracted to many other things, God has created us to be attracted to, and find ultimate satisfaction in his glory. In Isaiah 60 we find that the city of God is the greatest attraction of all time.

From Isaiah 59 we see that Christ has come to buy us back from our bondage to sin. Only he is able to stand as our redeemer.

Returning to Isaiah 56, we see that the local church is charged with carrying out the mission of God to bring the gospel to all peoples. As people who have received mercy, we are called to follow Christ into the brokenness of this world to welcome in the hopeless, the outcast, the others who have not yet believed. 

In Isaiah 56 we're reminded that God's redemptive plan extends to all peoples.

Revival is when God comes down to make himself overwhelmingly real to us. But the message of Isaiah 58 is that God will only awaken us as we truly humble ourselves, acknowledge our need and willingly spend ourselves in the needs of others.

Christianity is about the awakening of your soul to God. We learn about true revival from Isaiah the Prophet in Isaiah 57.

From Isaiah 55, we see that humanity is offered an endless supply of feasts, but only one will truly satisfy. God's invitation is for us to come to His table freely offered to those in need, where we will find forgiveness, lasting satisfaction and joy.

From Isaiah 53:10-12 we see three ways that the resurrection of Jesus confirms the miracle of the gospel.

From Isaiah 53:4-6 we see one of the major themes of the gospel—substitution. The suffering servant stands in our place; he heals our deepest pain, endures our just penalty, and carries our guilt far away.

In one of the most quoted sections of Isaiah we meet God's servant—one who will be highly exalted and given glory, but only after he endured great suffering. According to the early Christians, Jesus Christ was the suffering servant that Isaiah had promised over 700 years before his birth. In this message we will trace the gospel displayed in Isaiah 53.

Almost one year to the day after the start of the Covid pandemic, we took time to slow down and remember God's faithfulness over the last twelve months. Pete especially wanted to draw our attention to how God's faithfulness to us has been seen through our faithfulness to one another as the body of Christ.

From a people in captivity in Isiah 40, we learn that God's Word is trustworthy and the King of glory is faithful to forgive sin through the saving work of his son, Jesus Christ.

In Isa 36-37 we learn from the life of King Hezekiah what it would look like for God, the King to unseat all the lesser kings who seek to dominate the throne of our hearts.

Death is part of the curse and judgement that God pronounces over the people in Isaiah 24. But God has promised that there is refuge for his chosen one's. On Zion, all the people of God will celebrate the triumph of their King and the end of all suffering.

Sharing from his own testimony in chapter 12, Isaiah joyfully proclaims that God is the beautiful music of salvation that has come alive in us.

The unbelief of King Ahaz in Isaiah 7 is a window into our own hearts. Like Ahaz, in the most difficult, threatening seasons of life we are more likely to trust in our schemes and plans rather than to trust in the heart of a faithful God.

Nothing will be more practical or relevant for the coming year than a transformed, life-altering vision of God.
