Carey encourages us to remember the lessons learned from 2020

Carey Robinson begins a Wednesday night series on things we have learned in the midst of a Covid pandemic.

From Isaiah 11 we learn that Jesus is the promised King and that his kingdom will be a peaceful kingdom.

One of the things we learn from Isaiah is that God is the only one who brings true, lasting hope. In Isaiah 9 Hope comes in the form of a child who will reign as king forever.

Apart from the bad news of the curse, there is no good news of the beautiful and righteous reign of Christ on the earth. Isaiah reminds us in chapter 4 that the "branch of the Lord" will bring joy, restoration and healing to all the earth.

This is the first Sunday of Advent, and the first Sunday in our preaching series from Isaiah, Your Kingdom Com. Today we are in Isa 1:1-6, "The Holy One of Israel".

One of the most natural, beautiful, and life-giving thing that the church ever does is to multiply. In Matt. 28:19-20, Matthew wants every disciple to feel the thrill and responsibility of the mission to make disciples. 

Finding your voice is not just for pastors. Every single disciple of Jesus is called and empowered to voice the gospel. Here are five things that we learn about evangelism from Romans 10.

Although Peter and John had no formal training, they spoke with passion and conviction when they were brought before the Jewish leaders in Acts 4.  We learn that gospel boldness is not about swagger or arrogance and overconfidence, rather it is a freedom to speak, combined with a growing understanding of the gospel. The person who has tasted the healing power of God cannot help but speak about what they have seen and heard!

Our salvation is all the work of God for us through Christ, but Paul reminds us at the end of 2 Corinthians 5, that everyone who has experienced the reconciling power of God is now an ambassador of the grace of God.

Pastor Xavier Torrado, from Redeeming Grace Church and our mission partner in Puerto Rico, points us to three important marks for the Christian Life from Acts 20.

From Philippians 1, Pastor Pete expresses his thanks to the church for their grace and support of him and his family.

Fear can keep us from acting on the God-given desire to tell others about Jesus Christ.  In 2 Corinthians 5, we learn that the love of Christ is the key to overcoming fear in gospel conversations.

On Covenant Renewal Sunday we learn from Luke 14 that Jesus makes a radical call to those who will follow him. God's grace is absolutely and amazingly free, but it is not cheap, and it will cost you something.

From Luke 15 we see that God tirelessly and passionately pursues sinners. Jesus is the friend of sinners, and scandalously so. This is the second sermon from our Multiply series.

From Jesus's parable in Luke 14 we're reminded of the urgency to communicate the gospel to those who have not heard. God wants to use us to speak hope into chaos.

In Psalm 69 we see that those that God loves still face suffering, and that suffering may come because of our faith in God. But because Jesus entered into our suffering and ultimately gave his life on a cross for our sins, our suffering is not eternal, but through him brings us redemption and reconciliation to God.

Psalm 68 celebrates God's care and protection for his people—and not just for his people, but for gentiles who do not yet know Him.

In Psalm 67 we see that God's blessings are not reserved for the people of Israel, but in order that through them, the nations would be blessed. We are recipients of that blessing, and are called to bless others through the overflow of God's grace to us in Christ Jesus so that all the nations would come to know and receive the gospel.

As image bearers each of us have an important story to tell, because we were made by God for his glory. In Psalm 66 the psalmist declares the personal story of what God has done for his soul.
