My Servant Will Rise - Isaiah 53:10-12

From Isaiah 53:10-12 we see three ways that the resurrection of Jesus confirms the miracle of the gospel.

The Suffering Servant - Isaiah 52:13-53:6

In one of the most quoted sections of Isaiah we meet God's servant—one who will be highly exalted and given glory, but only after he endured great suffering. According to the early Christians, Jesus Christ was the suffering servant that Isaiah had promised over 700 years before his birth. In this message we will trace the gospel displayed in Isaiah 53.

I Believe in the Resurrection of the Body - 2 Corinthians 4:13-15

Death is forever defeated thru the victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. His victory brings salvation to all who believe. We believe this with our hearts, and confess it by sharing God's saving grace with others.

On the Third Day He Rose Again - 1 Corinthians 15:12-26

From 1 Corinthians 15 we see that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the lynchpin of the gospel—without it our faith would be in vain. This first 5 minutes of the sermon includes a conversation with Jake Schemm about the role of the Apostles' Creed in the development of his faith.

Descended to the Dead - Acts 2:22-32; Rev 1:18

From Acts 2:22-32 we're reminded that Jesus fully experienced death—body and soul. In his descent to the realm of the dead, Jesus defeated death and reversed the curse sin, so that his descent is where gospel victory began. This sermon is the seventh part of the series on the Apostles' Creed.
